Starter Repairs
When you hit the start button, the battery sends a powerful electrical charge to the starter solenoid. This activates the solenoid, which powers up the starter. The starter, in turn, cranks your engine, which should start within seconds. A starter can wear out over time, and this can make starting your engine difficult or even impossible.
While the starter can fail, it's more likely that the starter solenoid is the cause of the problem. A damaged solenoid prevents the electrical charge from passing to the starter, and your engine won't crank. Starter problems can also be caused by damaged wiring or blown fuses. Our technicians will investigate, identify the issue, and repair it.
Coolant Flush
Coolant is a mixture of antifreeze and water, and its job is to remove heat from your engine. The coolant moves through the engine at high speed and absorbs heat ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​from the hot engine components. The heat is then transported to the radiator, where it's removed by heat exchange. Like all other fluids, coolant becomes less efficient with time and needs replacement.
Coolant is usually replaced every 30,000 to 100,000 miles. Your car manual will give the correct replacement time for your model. Older coolant can become corrosive, and this can lead to engine damage. We fix this problem with a coolant flush. The old coolant is drained, then we refill the system with coolant mixed with a conditioner to remove any traces of the old coolant. Once the system is clean, we drain the coolant again and refill it with fresh coolant.
Radiator Hose Replacement
As we've seen, the radiator has the important role of removing engine heat. The radiator is connected to the cooling system by two reinforced rubber hoses. These hoses are designed to withstand the almost continual movement of hot coolant that can easily reach temperatures of over 300 F. As time passes, the hoses will gradually lose their flexibility, and this can cause cracks.
A cracked hose will leak coolant, reducing the pressure in the cooling system and increasing your engine temperature. If your engine temperature rises for no apparent reason, one of both hoses could be damaged. We'll examine the hoses, and can easily replace them if they're damaged.
